Artificial Bait Fishing
Friday, 13 April 2007You may place a floater as bait for the water surface and suspended crank bait for sub surface portion of the water. As for the bottom part, the jig is the appropriate bait is to be used. Surface artificial baits are definitely the preferred because of the excitement that you experience from witnessing the explosion as the fish bites. Other preferred top surface baits are the propeller, floater, diver, zigzagger baits.
A zigzagger has a forward and backward movement which results from the jerking the tip of the rod while you are reeling it. The first time that you use this bait will surely wear and hurt your wrists. A propeller bait on the other hand is also great, but requires some tuning to achieve the desired sound. There are baits that have propellers both in front and at the back. If you take off the propeller in front, the weight on the plug front will become less and will help the bait to sit with the back end a little heavy. The desired sound will then be achieved. Also, you must manipulate the blades of the rear propeller a little inward to get more pitch. Ideally, the sound now should be like a nice zip and not a slurping sound. Sub-surface artificial bait does not have to act like lures. Jigs as well as spoons are reliable underwater baits too. The noise and flashing light that the trembling blade creates are the great qualities of this bait which make it a favorite among many fishermen into artificial bait fishing. Likewise, the depth that spoons to have be easily controlled.
Artificial bait fishing means baiting the bottom part of the water. And the most reliable artificial bait for this is the jig. Its head has weights and its solo hook rarely is struck or caught. The water’s depth as well as the current’s strength will indicate the head size to utilize. The tails of jigs are available in different colors, sizes and shapes. Tube-like and slug designs are preferred. For more enticement and appeal, inserting a worm rattle will do the trick.
